Prison Offender Manager

HMP Ashfield, Bristol

Full-Time/ Permanent

Salary £22,584 per annum + Benefits

(Salary will increase gradually to £26,656 once modules have been completed)



Here at Serco we're looking for a Prison Offender Manager to join us at HMP Ashfield based in Bristol. The postholder will be responsible for supporting prisoners through their sentence, promoting end to end offender management that underpins an offender's journey through the criminal justice systems. You will motivate and challenge a caseload of men who have committed serious sexual offences, to address their offending behaviour and support them through their journey at HMP Ashfield.  Our aim is to serve the Public reduce the risk of further serious offences being committed.


You will effectively assess the needs of individual prisoners and develop sentence plans within a multi-disciplinary team as well as maintaining regular contact with all prisoners on your caseload to ensure you are managing their needs effectively through their sentence. Along with the above you will be tasked with maintaining both electronic and paper records for each prisoner on your caseload, attend and contribute to Team and Service meetings as appropriate, conduct recategorisation reviews in line with national guidance and ensuring that all necessary training applicable to working within a prison environment is completed.



As part of this you'll:

  • Actively support and encourage inter-agency sentence planning and user involvement in the development and review of services delivered by the Offender Management Service.
  • Attend and be committed to ongoing regular supervision.
  • Ensure that all national policies regarding data protection and security are adhered to.
  • Ensure service delivery takes place within an equal opportunities framework and promote anti discriminatory practice in all aspects of the work.
  • Produce reports for purpose of informing the Parole Board of a prisoners progress and risk in line with stipulated time frames.



What you'll need to do the role

First and foremost, you'll need to have worked in a similar role or worked with service users that display potentially difficult behaviours. It would be advantageous if you've worked within an Offender Management background and looked after several caseloads.  


The successful applicant will be computer literate, able to work on their own initiative, approachable, efficient and reliable. We are looking for someone that can communicate at all levels, build strong working relationships and be a successful part of an ever-growing team.
