Role: Product and Process Manager (1 x permanent and 1 x secondment vacancy)


Salary and Benefits: Salary circa of £55,000 to £58,000 per annum dependant on previous experience and the role applied for. Location: 1 x permanent and 1 x secondment opportunity. One role covering the Leeds/Wakefield area and one role covering Bradford/York area, in the Energy & Recycling department. The role is a flexible hybrid working arrangement with an expectation that 40% of your time will be spent working from the operational sites from where your team(s) operate. 


We are looking for two Product & Process Managers to join our Energy & Recycling department. The successful candidates will manage a team of Field-based colleagues to deliver operational excellence across wastewater and bio-resources assets. The managers will play a critical role in achieving our business performance targets, focusing on improving business processes associated with the management and operation of wastewater treatment works and key STF assets.


Key Accountabilities:

Some of the key responsibilities you will have will include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and support the team to deliver performance excellence.
  • Fiscal management and budget responsibility.
  • Liaise and support with capital projects.
  • Safety management, RCA, Topset investigations, audits, POWRA Adherence.
  • Health and wellbeing of direct reports management.
  • Workload management and resource allocation.
  • Ensuring best practice and consistency is used in all activities.
  • Liaison with compliance and policy teams.
  • Manage and review RCA.
  • Approve non-safety critical device management of changes.
  • Manage escalation and incident resolution.
  • Continually look to improve our processes.
  • Ensure risks and performance shortfalls are fed back to the Technical Support team.
  • Drive operational improvements to minimise energy and consumables usage.


Knowledge and Skills Required:


Our Product and Process Manager will be a highly motivated, customer focused, experienced people leader with a proven track record of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets. You will also:

  • You will have experience of Health and Safety management processes and systems and excellent knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety standards (preferably IOSH/NEBOSH qualified).
  • You will be experienced in budget management (business planning and delivering to stretching plan), managing the operational (OPEX) budget to achieve Business Plan targets.
  • Has a demonstrable technical experience and understanding of production processes. You will possess good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven planning ability - identifying priorities and actions to assist in delivering results.
  • You will be a strong influential manager of stakeholders, have excellent communication skills and be able to create excellent working relationships with our contract partners and supply chains. You will be able to negotiate and challenge effectively as well as the ability to embed change.
  • Experience of delivering continual improvement and Incident management and asset failure recovery experience.
  • Proficient in IT and will have in-depth knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Experience of delivering continual improvement and Incident management and asset failure recovery experience.
  • Current and valid driving licence (no more than six points).



  • Previous experience in water/wastewater sectors or utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors
