Production Engineer

Would you like to play a key role in the ever-growing maritime business unit? We currently have a vacancy for a Production Engineer at our site in Portsmouth.

As a Production Engineer, you will be working with the design and production team to develop, prove and implement new production solutions. Your position is to improve safety, delivery time, quality and cost of production and maintenance work.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work across the business with multi-disciplined team including operations, engineering, project and workshop. This is a varied role where no two days are the same. This role offers excellent career development and progression with an opportunity to move within the Engineering and operation teams.

Your main responsibilities as a Production Engineer will involve:

Improving the safety, delivery time, quality and cost of our production/ maintenance work - working with design and production staff to develop, prove and implement new production solutions

Ensuring that the installation procedures are Safe and compliant with Company procedures and processes

Supporting the Operations teams in delivering excellence, along with self-management to deliver tasks will be paramount

Ensuring that continuous improvements are being supported and achieved

Ensuring that timely deadlines are met

Identifying new technology that will improve the efficiency and safe delivery of projects/tasks

Your skills and qualifications as a Production Engineer:

Essential:

Recognised apprenticeship or industrial equivalent qualifications

Must be computer literate

Understanding of Lean, Six Sigma methodology and improvement philosophies, including Kaizan

Must be willing to work on ships, shop floor and the office

Desirable:

HNC/HND or equivalent qualification or prepared to work towards

You will have excellent communications skills - written and verbal and be confident liaising with a broad range of stakeholders. You will be adaptable and flexible in your approach to work, determined and focused in order to find solutions.
