Salary: £38,600 - £58,000 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance + annual bonus

About the Department

Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.

Over the next 5 -6 years Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc will be developing and delivering some of the largest and most exciting infrastructure projects in Scotland and this is the opportunity for you to be involved.

What is the Role?

SSE Transmission is currently recruiting for experienced Project Managers to join our growing team of professionals. Reporting to the Head of Transmission Customer Connections, you'll be leading and managing Large Capital Projects for the Transmission Business to ensure the safe delivery to programme, cost and the necessary quality.

Key to this purpose is the leadership of project teams involving both staff and external contractors, to ensure project excellence is achieved through a competent, motivated and improvement focused team using robust systems to support the project process.

The Project Manager should apply and adhere to the Safety Management Systems, best practices and the SSE Large Capital Projects Governance processes for all projects. It is also important that they lead the project teams in alignment with the SSE Safety Culture and core leadership values.

What do I need?

To be considered for role of Project Manager, you will have demonstrable leadership experience with a broad understanding of project management methodology and practice. You will preferably have experience of the Transmission Business and the regulated environment that we operate in. However, we will consider with experience in the construction or the utilities sector on major projects who have strong engineering knowledge including the safety and CDM regulations.

You will ideally have a minimum of HNC/HND or similar qualification related to the role and should be proficient in Microsoft Office.

An operational understanding of electrical networks gained within the Distribution and/or Transmission businesses.

A positive project-oriented attitude with an ability to solve problems, deliver to timescales and manage multiple projects and work streams simultaneously.

Experience of managing and reporting on large capital project budgets is necessary as well as the knowledge of developing project programme and timescales associated with Project Delivery and Construction activities.

It is important that you have the following:

Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other key relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.

Experience of the NEC3 Suite of Contracts, with a focus on the Engineering and Construction and Professional Services Contracts

Due to the need to travel between our offices and sites throughout central and northern Scotland, you must be willing to work away from your base location when required and there is a requirement for you to have a full, current driving licence.
