Wiltshire Council’s countywide hearing and vision team are pleased to advertise the opportunity for a suitable individual to undertake a 6 month temporary role of Rehabilitation Officer with Visually Impaired People (ROVI).
We are a dedicated multi-disciplinary team providing advice, information, assessment and support to adults with sensory impairments.
About the role
To provide a full range of rehabilitation skills on sight substitution and sight enhancement following a needs led specialist assessment to promote independence and reduce risk so that people with a sight impairment can remain in their own homes.

The Team(s) provide assessment and care management services, advice, guidance and information for adults including support to and assessments of Carer’s. The Team has a primary responsibility for safeguarding vulnerable adults and will, following an alert, determine appropriate action in conjunction with other agencies as appropriate.
The team is specifically for people aged 18+ who are Deaf, hard of hearing, partially sighted / sight impaired, Blind / severely sight impaired, visually impaired or has a dual sensory loss and works across the County of Wiltshire. The team provides awareness to internal and external agencies and also a high level of advocacy.
The applicant will need to demonstrate you have an understanding of the impact of sight loss on the daily life of an individual
Have experience of working in social care and the ability to teach - independence skills in three key areas of orientation and mobility, communication or daily living skills.
You must also be able to drive and have access to your own transport as this post is a countywide role.
