As a regulated financial institution, we have a regulatory obligation to establish and maintain policies, procedures, systems and controls to mitigate and effectively manage Sanctions risk.
In this critical role, you'll be a Subject Matter Expert, providing Sanctions Advisory advice across Line 1 and Central Functions.
You'll be responsible for providing the best guidance and advice possible, to maintain effective Sanctions compliance.
The difference you'll make.
Supporting the provision of SME guidance on escalated and complex Sanctions referrals and Sanctions Policy appetite queries across the Bank
Supporting the analysis of the types of and outcomes of Sanctions escalations, and providing Sanctions risk qualitative and quantitative information to Senior Management
Advising on Sanctions Policy interpretation, Regulatory advisory, Country risk advisory, Screening, Systems and spike management
Communicating Sanctions Policy changes to the Bank
Assisting with Sanctions Policy gap analysis and supporting Policy Dispensations
Assisting with the preparation of Business support tools (templates, quarterly guidance, briefs), to help and prepare teams to manage Sanctions risk
What you'll bring.
Financial Crime subject matter expertise, ideally in Sanctions
Proven experience of conducting investigations, understanding and applying policy
It would also be nice for you to have.
Proven experience/knowledge of CDD/EDD
Knowledge of internal Santander policies in relation to Sanctions and prohibited jurisdictions
Keen eye for detail
Confident communicator, with excellent stakeholder management skills, both internally and externally

Given the recent impact of the Coronavirus outbreak we will be conducting all interviews via telephone or video-conference where possible.
This is a permanent role and can be based in our offices in Milton Keynes, Bradford, Glasgow or Sheffield.
