Job Title: Saturday/Evening Library Assistant

Salary Range: £2,632 to £2,685 per annum

Work Location: Burgess Hill Library

Hours per week: 5.5 hours per week

Contract type: 2 x Permanent positions

Closing date: 11pm, Sunday 27th September 2020

We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and resourceful person with excellent digital skills and able to multi-task in a busy library community space. The opportunity is to help deliver a high quality service, providing accurate information and signposting to other services.

The Library Service is statutory and universal, providing access to books and information. Our libraries receive over 3 million visits per year. We promote the benefits of reading for learning, health and wellbeing through campaigns, events and activities.
We help people get online and navigate the digital world. We provide targeted services for hard to reach or vulnerable groups and we offer services to support employment and enterprise. Our online platforms attract over 4 million visits per year, offering a download service for books, newspapers and magazines, plus access to trusted information resources.

An important part of your role will be to promote our digital services and help residents get online using library computers and Wifi. You will need to be effective when completing general library duties such as shelving and locating items, and keeping the library tidy. The role also requires you will to be involved with children's activities which run on Saturdays. You will be an excellent team player, providing excellent service to everyone that visits our building. This is an active role and some lifting will be required.

To succeed as a Saturday/Evening Assistants you will be friendly, enthusiastic and hardworking with excellent digital skills and the ability to follow instructions and complete tasks accurately to a set deadline.

You will be a keen team player, able to work alongside other library staff and volunteers providing excellent customer service to the whole range of visitors to the library.

Good communication skills are key as you will be helping customers of all ages and answering their queries, referring to senior library staff when necessary.
