This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing multidisciplinary SEND team. We are passionate about promoting high aspirations and expectations for children and young people and we are looking for two SEN Caseworkers to join us as we champion the needs of children and young people with high need SEND (0-25) and their families.
As SEN Caseworker Officer you will work with children and young people and their families through the statutory assessment process for SEND. The role will involve communicating effectively and working collaboratively with a variety of partner agencies and organisations both internally within NYCC and externally to co-ordinate Education, Health and Care Assessments and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) in line with statutory guidance.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working with children and young people with SEND or additional needs in children’s services including; management of cases with complex legal, professional and ethical issues including case conferences and other statutory processes and procedures. You will be responsible for managing a caseload of children and young people either with EHCPs or undergoing statutory assessment whilst providing professional expertise around the SEND process and relevant legislation and guidance. You will be focused on achieving positive life outcomes for children; establishing respectful, trusting relationships with children, young people, their families and carers.
