We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Automation Engineer with a focus on infrastructure delivery automation. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain automated systems that enhance our infrastructure deployment processes.

Along with this, automation plays a pivotal role in the other landscapes of platforms like patching, operations, compliance and products. You'll collaborate with various teams to drive efficiency, scalability, and reliability through automation technologies. The ideal candidate is experienced in infrastructure automation tools and scripting, with a keen eye for optimising workflow and will be tasked to deliver solutions aligned with the Automation roadmap and aligned to our corporate strategy.  

This position will give you an opportunity to work and collaborate with other teams across Santander.

The difference you'll make:

  • Being a subject matter expert and taking on a consultative role as it pertains to infrastructure automation
  • Setting standards/guidelines for IT Automation, both of the code itself and the level of documentation
  • Assisting other teams to resolve automation challenges as part of a centre of excellence for Infrastructure Automation
  • Training other members or juniors on automation technologies
  • Understanding the I AM Risk principles and follow and promote the risk culture within area of responsibility
  • Carrying out the role to be responsible for identifying, assessing, managing and reporting risk using the appropriate Company procedures and channels

What you'll bring:

These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:

  • Programming and coding experience
  • Agile, cloud and DevOps - building infrastructure in the cloud using Ansible & Terraform
  • Ability to explain to senior management complex technical concepts
  • Broad and comprehensive understanding of the concepts and principles within systems infrastructure and platforms
  • Leads and influences team members on technical decisions and design, ensuring they have the right technical abilities to effectively achieve performance goals and objectives
  • Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognise, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application, or operation

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Degree in computer science or other technical programme with exposure to programming or equivalent
  • Experience in computer science or engineering or equivalent
  • Banking background experience would be highly advantageous

What else you need to know:

This role is based in Milton Keynes

To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).

1st Stage - Technical Interview - this will a 30min technical interview with one of the team

2nd Stage - A one-hour formal interview where we will ask both technical and competency-based questions. This can be done virtually or face to face depending on your situation.
