Senior Commercial Officer
Would you like to be part of the maritime submarines and complex systems and support team providing support for in-service and in-build submarines? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Commercial Officer at our site in Filton or Frimley.
As a Senior Commercial Officer, you will be providing Commercial Services to meet the needs of the In-Service Programme. You will deal with contracts, contract management and winning new business, taking responsibility for the associated contractual and commercial elements. You will work collaboratively with key functions of the programme including Project Management, cost estimating, finance, procurement, engineering and technical as well as interfacing into UK Government (MoD) customers.
This role will provide you with an opportunity to work with complex issues across Combat Systems In-Service Support. You will also have opportunities of advancement within the commercial function and wider BAE business.
Your main responsibilities as a Senior Commercial Officer will involve:
Managing allocated commercial contracts.
Executing bids up to the value of £5M
Managing and resolving customer queries and issues in areas of responsibility, escalating significant problems as appropriate.
Developing and maintaining customer relationships both internally and externally.
Delivering commercial support and guidance to other functions
Managing the implementation of procedures and controls within the specified area to ensure compliance with commercial policies
Managing the Bid Approval process for commercial elements
Proposing and reviewing complex terms and conditions to ensure that BAE SYSTEMS Business interests are protected
Providing advice and guidance to Supply Chain team to ensure appropriate flow-down of head contract terms and conditions
Drafting detailed Agreements including Purchase Orders, Enabling Agreements, Technical Assistance Agreements, Contracts, Sub-Contracts, amendments and Service Level Agreements.
Understanding the financial and pricing requirements of commercial contracts
Ability to plan and undertake basic negotiations
Proactively identify, manage and mitigate commercial risk.
Your skills and qualifications:
Ability to communicate and present to all levels of the business and customer environment
Good and broad professional knowledge of commercial principles and practices
Business acumen to demonstrate an understanding of the balance of risk and reward in managing long term complex programmes
Proven ability to negotiate, prepare and issue sound business contracts
Experience of Team Working in a Commercial / Contracts department
Knowledge of MOD contracting practices
Awareness of Single Source Contract Regulations (SSCR) and AAR Criteria
Knowledge of ITAR and export controls

Maritime - Submarines
Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.
The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.
