Senior Engineer - (Safety & Environmental Engineering (Product Legislation Management)

Would you like a key role within our legislation management team? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Engineer - (Safety & Environmental Engineering (Product Legislation Management) at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

As a Senior Engineer - (Safety & Environmental Engineering (Product Legislation Management), you will be reviewing systems designs and looking at legislation requirements and that they are legal and good to go before handing over to MOD. You will maintain the legislation register and update legislation monthly.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to build on both strengths, engineering and legislation and making the role your own where career development is supported & encouraged.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Engineer - (Safety & Environmental Engineering (Product Legislation Management) will involve:

Supporting the technical assessment of products to provide through life support to Engineering and other business functions in BAE Systems Maritime -Submarines (BAESM-S)

Supporting the reviews and approvals of product documentation: conformity of the product breakdown structure, material assessment, spatial arrangements, operation and activities associated with the products, procurement/ supplier responses

Supporting the development, maintenance and upkeeping of core documentation with regards to: Legislation registers, Principles, Processes and Plans, Specific Project Deliverables, Surveillance of changes to legislation and Presentation and guidance

Supporting the provision of Product Legislation support and guidance to engineering and other functions within BAESM-S

Supporting the audit of legislative conformity of BAESM-S products

Organising and running meetings, workshops, desktop studies, walk downs etc. as required to support deliverables, participating in the appropriate meetings and working Groups

Key Accountabilities with regards to: Product legislation management, Document reviews, Upkeep of the product legislation database and Technical report writing

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Degree qualified/ NVQ Level 5 or equivalent experience in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) related discipline or Law degree

Working with legislation - legal background

Technical report writing

MS Office proficient - Word, Excel etc

Manage large databases

Desirable:

Experience of managing data integrity and large data sets in data bases such as but not limited to Team Centre, SIMPLIFI, Lexis Nexis and Euro-lex

Auditing experience

Process writing

Lifecycle management knowledge/ Experience

Demonstrable understanding of BAESM-S (BAE Safety Management Systems) products through their lifecycle
