Job Description

As our Senior People Operations Officer, you will support the other People Operations Officers with their day-to-day responsibilities and the Regional People Operations Manager.

Your role will include supporting all race day's at Cheltenham and other South West locations as the business requires. Ensuring the recruitment and induction of new starters is a smooth process, liaising with managers and confirming them for work, booking and managing accommodation for the season and to take active involvement in race day check in and out.

You will also assist with the planning and post event breakdown of events and getting involved with any projects from senior management.

Jockey Club Catering is a venture partnership between Jockey Club Racecourses, the UK's leading racecourse and venues group, and Compass Group UK & Ireland, to provide top quality catering, hospitality and service at 15 racecourses nationwide.

This sees Jockey Club Catering operate at The Jockey Club's flagship Cheltenham Racecourse during the four days of The Festival, which is effectively the world championships of Jump racing, attended by more than 250,000 people. More about the role:
  • Be involved in the recruitment plan within the location and participate with recruitment activities
  • Take ownership for the recruitment administration Cheltenham
  • Support the Regional People Operations Manager with the maintenance of personnel files. Ensuring that new files are created, scanned and saved with the relevant documentation, for both salaried and casual workforce
  • Ensure sufficient uniform is available for every operational day
  • Take ownership of the People Operations duties at Henley Royal Regatta, including recruitment, training, accommodation and the management of check in and out on live days
  • Take ownership of the accommodation for Cheltenham Racecourse for all events (including Henley Royal Regatta)
  • Assist with Race Day planning, delivery and breakdown with regards to the People Operations Function, with particular attention to Cheltenham
  • Take part in ensuring staff check in is completed in an efficient manner in line with staffing and location procedures
  • Ensuring that accurate records are made and details filed in accordance with company and unit procedure
  • Recommend improvements, which you believe, would help to grow our business and sustain our position in the market
  • Support Regional People Operations with improving systems, workflow and retention strategies
Who you are:
  • You will have extensive experience of working as a Staffing or Recruitment Admin or similar in a demanding fast paced environment or as a HR generalist with a large client or across multiple sites
  • A positive, approachable trouble shooter with experience of delivering and someone who is commercially astute with experience in a fast paced, high volume variable labour environment with an active eye and awareness of the wider recruitment market and our key competitors
