We’re Zowie Overy and Karen Reynolds, team managers in the Looked After Children’s Teams in Great Yarmouth. We love our roles and together have created a united service in which practitioners share a great environment to work in. They tell us that they are supported and feel confident in their practice.
We’re looking for dedicated social workers who are passionate to work with children who are looked after in Norfolk. We’re a close team in the East, with very manageable caseloads and a focus on the relationships we build with children, young people, carers and families. The Looked After Children’s service is embarking on a period of transforming practice as Norfolk strives for a model of best practice that is a beacon to all, and that is truly collaborative with the children and young people we work with.
You’ll be given lots of support including Family Network Advisors and court work facilitators and we encourage flexible working wherever possible. As team managers we support and encourage our practitioners to develop and progress through a learning environment, where all in the team have a voice when planning priorities and areas to work on. The main responsibilities of this post are to assess and support the needs of children in care, ensuring that we create plans which support children to reach their aspirations and potential. This is achieved through careful matching of placement and carers, working with whole networks and keeping the child’s views, needs and safety at the heart of practice.
Our practitioner posts are usually based at Haven Bridge House in Great Yarmouth; however currently, due to COVID 19 restrictions our roles are currently working from home as part of our Smarter Working plans and to support the health and safety of all our colleagues. We anticipate that working remotely will be a key feature of this role and when offices re-open your office base will be Haven Bridge House in Great Yarmouth. Our technology platform and equipment is first class enabling you to connect and collaborate remotely. We ask that you have in place good Broadband connectivity. The Looked After Children Service can require travel outside of the county, so travelling will be required.
We think Norfolk, and particularly the East, is a beautiful part of the world to work in, with coastline and rural countryside on our doorstep. Due to the varied demographics in the East we also have great service links and available resources.
If you’re an experienced children’s social worker and want to work together with us to shape the future of Children’s Services in Norfolk, we want to hear from you.
Interviews will take place via video technology, where you will have the opportunity to discuss these working arrangements.
For an informal discussion regarding this vacancy please contact Zowie Overy Team Manager on 01603 306157, email: email@example.com or Karen Reynolds on 01603 306158, email: firstname.lastname@example.org
