About this role

Here at Babcock International we are looking for a Senior Supportability Engineer (ILS) to work within the Information Systems business stream of Mission Systems, the Senior Engineer is required to deliver Integrated Logistics Support tasks and provide through life support activities to designated projects, during the procurement and service delivery phases of the project's lifecycle.

Main Purpose of Role

You will provide ILS subject matter expertise, guidance and recommendations for all assigned projects and opportunities including production and maintenance of ILS documentation and deliverables for allocated projects and opportunities. You will also be responsible for the maintenance of data recording and corrective action systems to capture, sentence and analyse operational and support incidents relating to project equipment and systems.

You will undertake obsolescence monitoring/technology watch of system components and report on the findings, providing detailed cost effective through life mitigation/resolution options for all arisings.

We will also require you to produce and maintain the required technical documentation for specific projects. These will include Books of Reference (BR), Configuration Status Account Records (CSAR), Master Record Indexes (MRI), Establishment Lists (E-List), Integrated Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM). Other tasks will include control of project stores and government furnished equipment (GFE): inventory management, receipt, issue, report, update the planning and equipment production system (PEPS), trade controls (ITAR) and disposal.

What do I need to do this role?

You will ideally have a good understanding of the requirements set out in the Defence Logistics Framework (DLF) and Defence Standard 00-600, or have similar experience of Supportability / ILS support in an aligned Industry.

You must also be able to disseminate key ILS information from any type of document; have good report writing and communication skills.

We require someone professionally astute and able to use their own initiative to maximum effect and be willing to undertake further professional development when in role where required. Due to the nature of the projects we required prospective candidates to be both commercially aware and security conscious at all times.


Qualified to HNC as a minimum, or equivalent, in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) discipline or suitable work experience in an ILS role.


This position is within the Babcock DST business unit as a grade 5 which has a salary of £35,460 with DRDL Terms and Conditions.
