What you'll do

Working in a permanent feature team, you’ll build up a team of system engineers and software developers, supporting systems, applications and software components which delivers services to the bank You’ll also be liaising with principal engineers, architects in the domain and other key stakeholders to understand how the platform works and how it supports business objectives.

You’ll also be:

  • The communication hub between the business, internal engineers, developers and 3rd parties
  • Making sure that the bank’s systems follow excellent architectural and engineering principles, and are fit for purpose
  • Monitoring the technical progress against plans while safeguarding functionality, scalability and performance, and providing progress updates to stakeholders
  • Making sure the bank’s change process is followed and documented

The skills you'll need

You’ll need a background in software engineering, software design, architecture, and an understanding of how your area of expertise supports our customers. You’ll also need minimum 5 years of experience of leading system engineering teams for the application management for various applications with a broad technical spread like Java, Unix and Windows and driving the development of applications and services.

You’ll manage the team in an agile approach, resolve impediments and coordinate the capacity of your team members. This will include assignments on release weekends as well. You and your team will work in a matrix organisation and provide services to different teams in Switzerland. As a team leader, you’ll be responsible for communication in the event of incidents and ensure that problems are solved within SLA times.

Additionally, you’ll demonstrate:

  • Experience in adapting new procedures and working practices of a dynamic and international environment like UK and Switzerland
  • Knowledge of Network and Firewall principles
  • Knowledge of relational, in-memory, distributed and databases
  • Experience of coordinating with business, system engineers, developers and 3rd party resources
