Software Package Manager

Would you like to work in a dynamic team within our combat systems function? We currently have a vacancy for a Software Package Manager to be based at one of our sites in either New Malden, Frimley or Portsmouth.

As a Software Package Manager, you will be supporting and sharing responsibility for the Project and Engineering aspects for the Networks and Console Team or Software Team under the guidance of the specific area Work Package Manager.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work closely with the technical and projects teams, interacting with engineers across multiple disciplines e.g. software & networks.

Your main responsibilities as a Software Package Manager will involve:

Supporting the management of the Shared Infrastructure Network and Console Team/Software Team on a daily basis.

Taking responsibility for reporting on activities, over-seeing tasks, looking for commonality of approach, understanding dependencies and issues, driving tasks to completion

Supporting with the financial tracking and reporting of activities being undertaken by the team.

Supporting management of team resources and forward planning. The role will require management of resources within a matrix organisation, with conflicting needs and timescales.

Supporting the production of training plans and overseeing the general development of members of the team.

Making sure the benefits of a SI product are understood and are being realised within the teams

Liaison with the customer and other teams within the projects to achieve the completion of the projects to time and budget.

Your skills and qualifications:

Experience working in engineering or a defence or related industry

Experience within a software/systems development environment.

Good understanding of the Engineering Lifecycle

Ability to manage complex issues for multiple concurrent projects balancing the needs and priorities of each project against the others

Budget & time management skills

Complex problem analysis & solution identification
