Sous Chef - Hospitality and Events
  • Location: Canary Wharf, London (30 seconds from Canary Wharf Tube Station)
  • Salary: £45,518 per annum, with plentiful overtime opportunities
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (40 hours per week)
We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our Hospitality and Events team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong culinary background, exceptional leadership skills, and a commitment to excellence. This role offers the unique opportunity to work within a prestigious international firm, delivering fine dining and high-end event catering.
Job Summary:
Our kitchen prepares exceptional cuisine for private dining, meeting rooms, conferences, and events. This includes:
  • Private Dining: Lunches and dinners for up to 30 covers.
  • Larger Events: Catering for up to 250 covers in event spaces.
  • Conferences: Breakfast, hot/cold buffets, and evening canapés for 80-250 covers.
  • Meeting Rooms: Breakfasts, sandwich/finger food lunches, cakes, and evening meals, with peak lunchtime covers around 200.
Working Hours:
  • Standard hours are 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
  • Rare weekend requirements may arise.
  • Evening Events: Typically 3 evenings per week outside school holidays, offering plentiful overtime opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Menu Development: Collaborate with the Head Chef to craft innovative and seasonal menus.
  • Kitchen Management: Lead and work alongside kitchen staff, maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
  • Food Preparation: Ensure consistent preparation and presentation of dishes, participating in cooking and plating as needed.
  • Stock Control: Manage stock levels, order ingredients, and monitor food costs while minimizing waste.
  • Training & Development: Mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive environment.
  • Quality Control: Regularly check and ensure all dishes meet fine dining standards.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: 3-5 years in fine dining or hospitality kitchens, with 2+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Skills: Culinary excellence, creativity, leadership, and strong organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge: Expertise in HSE regulations and a range of cooking techniques.
  • Attributes: Positive attitude, passion for food, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-functional kitchen.
