About the Department
Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.
What is the Role?
Due to significant growth within SHE Transmission we currently have an opportunity for an experienced Stakeholder Engagement Officer working as part of the Customers and Stakeholders directorate. The role is unique as the resource will support the internal communications and stakeholder engagement functions within the business.
The primary purpose of the Stakeholder Engagement Officer role is to develop and deliver regular, comprehensive internal and external stakeholder engagement on behalf of the Internal Communications and Stakeholder Engagement teams, while supporting the wider Customer and Stakeholders team. To establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the fields relevant to SHE Transmissions commercial policies and wider business and transmission planning activities, achieving 'buy in' and active support for the SHE Transmission Strategy and Delivery Plan. This includes internal staff, Government, regulators, connection customers and industry representatives.
In addition, the Stakeholder Engagement Officer will assist the Internal Communications Manager and Head of Stakeholder Engagement in the implementation of the necessary business processes, practices and behaviours within the Customers and Stakeholder team to deliver the wider SHE Transmission Stakeholder Engagement Plan and ensure all SHE Transmission staff are engaged with the internal communications initiatives.
In undertaking this role, the Stakeholder Engagement Officer is required to undertake cross-business co-ordination within SHE Transmission, such that all staff are supportive of, and participants in, the Stakeholder Engagement Delivery Plan. The Stakeholder Engagement Officer may on occasion be required to represent SHE Transmission with stakeholders and industry specialist groups (for example, with Ofgem, other network licensees, a range of business customers, communities and stakeholders). In addition, the Stakeholder Engagement Officer will be required to support the organisation and implementation of leadership conferences and director roadshows.
What do I need?
To be considered for this unique position, you will have demonstrable experience of planning, coordination and reporting outcomes from internal and external stakeholder events, including the instruction and co-ordination of external facilitation events. You should also be experienced in developing, implementing and maintaining engagement delivery plans and underlying policies, including securing support and associated approval.
You will have a demonstrable understanding of the utility sector (with preference for energy networks) and the contribution of SHE Transmission gained from experience.
The ideal candidate must have strong communication skills who can influence at stakeholder level in order to deliver excellent outputs.
You should be customer focused, self-motivated, person who can is flexible with a positive attitude and has keen analytical and problem solving skills whereby you can consider the "bigger picture" and long-term goals in assessing an issue and recommending a solution.
As a confident individual you will be able to operate out with your field of expertise, engaging with technical, financial and engineering specialists, to gather relevant information. Regulatory Awareness/Understanding the Rules is also key.
It would be advantageous, if you had experience using a variety of communication platforms/channels such as email management systems and/or creating video/audio content.
You will be ideally degree level qualified or have the equivalent, relevant experience.
