Switchboard/Reception Operator

James Cook University Hospital

Casual Contract (must be flexible to cover mornings, evenings and weekends)

Salary up to 19,337 FTE

 

James Cook provides a wide range of district general hospital services and specialist services such as neurosciences, renal medicine, spinal injuries, major trauma, cardiothoracic, vascular surgery, gynaecology, urology, cochlear implant and cancer services.

It has a 24-hour emergency department which houses the major trauma centre for Durham, East Cleveland, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire and has its own helipad.

We are looking for a Switchboard/Reception Operator to provide a switchboard and reception service in a high quality, efficient and cost-effective manner that meets the needs of the Trust, patients, staff and visitors. Serco provide this service 24/7 over 365(6) days a year.

You will ensure that all switchboard and reception functions are undertaken in a professional, competent and safe manner, Comply with the Company's policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. You will be accountable for supporting the Switchboard Supervisor to ensure full service is in compliance with the ISO 9002 procedures and meets performance standards, undertake duties as identified by the Switchboard Supervisor and management and ensure performance targets are achieved to agreed standards.

The successful candidate will carry out duties including logging calls, fire alarms and cardiac arrest incidents, log and respond to alarms raised on alarm panels/VDU's etc, logging and issuing portering requests and issuing keys.

 

What you'll need to do the role

To be considered for the role you must have a customer focused background, hold experience of managing high-volume switchboard/reception duties, have a professional approach and be computer literate.

A basic Food Hygiene Certificate / NVQ qualification or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
