Summary

We are looking to recruit a Tenancy Sustainment Officer to join us on a 12-month contract based in Trowbridge, Salisbury or Chippenham.

LIVE∙WORK∙SUPPORT

Our Rough Sleeper Team have worked incredibly hard over the last three years of the Rough Sleeper Initiative (RSI) Project to help a significant number of rough sleepers off the streets and into places of safety and suitable accommodation. For many, suitable accommodation has been supported accommodation, designed as a stepping-stone so our clients can develop the skills and knowledge to manage their money, a tenancy and behaviour, thus returning to rough sleeping does not become a viable option. For others, we have supported them into independent accommodation and provided ongoing tenancy support to ensure that their accommodation is sustained.  

About this role

For year four of the project, our former rough sleepers have moved on or are becoming ready to move on and seek secure, suitable and stable accommodation that they can call home. From which they can begin to rebuild their lives and become a positive part of their community.

This role will help these clients to establish their home and support them with independent living skills, helping them when things don’t go to plan and overcome some of the complexities of modern living which has, for some, made living on the streets simpler. The role is primarily to ensure that this client group are able to sustain living independently by the provision of advice and practical help in regards to benefits, money and tenancy matters, as well as look for funds and grants that can help them to set up their home.

For others who are at risk of losing their accommodation and ending up on the streets, similar help will be needed.  Identifying what the issues and risks are to them losing their home and helping to put in place a support plan which will address those issues and thus prevent homelessness. This will involve working closely with the Housing Options Team and the RSI Team.

About you

We are looking for someone with a get up and go attitude that can positively deal with clients who may be resistant to change and quite challenging.

You will be person focussed, empathetic and resilient and must be able to build partnerships that support your client base.  

You will have knowledge of landlord & tenant and homelessness law, welfare benefits and their interrelation, as well as budgeting and financial matters. We will look to you to be highly literate and have excellent communication, organisational and IT skills and a natural aptitude for dealing with any situation.
