About the role

We are currently looking for a Test Engineer to support the Typhoon Mission Systems Advisory Service (MSAS), within the Mission Systems IDT, working as an embedded member of the Typhoon Mission Support Centre (MSC) at RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire.

The Test Engineer is responsible for the development and production of Typhoon mission data, and for testing and assuring the performance of upcoming avionics products, using the Weapon System Support Rig (WSSR) - a synthetically hosted Typhoon avionics test environment.

The Test Engineer would be responsible for providing expert support to the MSC in the preparation, conduct and reporting of test activities. Some domain-specific training is available, but prospective candidates should be conversant in the scientific method and its application in a test & evaluation context as a minimum.

What do I need?

  • The Test Engineer must have a degree in Engineering, Science or Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
  • You should have a track record in applying mathematical and programming techniques to data analysis and problem solving.
  • The Test Engineer should have experience in test & evaluation or in avionics development/production.

Please note that all applicants must be eligible for SC clearance as a minimum.

What will I be doing?

  • You will be supporting the formulation of trial aims, objectives and test plans for WSSR trials.
  • The Test Engineer will be supporting the Test & Dev team in the effective conduct of WSSR testing activities, including the capture and management of appropriate instrumentation data.
  • You will be supporting the Test & Dev team in the analysis and reporting of results, including the coordination and management of appropriate tooling.
  • The Test Engineer will be responsible for the delivery of avionics test & evaluation best practice advice.
  • You'll be supporting the training and training development of Test & Dev team personnel.
