As a Commercial Transformation Programme Manager, you will lead programmes within the Water Network Transformation (WNTX) that contribute directly to the achievement of the transformation. To provide expert programme management and leadership as part of the WNTX team to ensure the transformation is on track and enable the delivery of the outcomes. This role will be accountable for the delivery of the Commercial program.

Please note that this role is on an 18-month fixed-term contract (FTC).

Key Accountabilities:
  • Manage a team of programme and project professionals ensuring a culture of high performance and customer-centricity.
  • Coach and mentor resources to lift capability and understanding of transformation Programme and Project management best practice.
  • Facilitate day-to-day management of programme progress, resourcing and programme level decisions on behalf of the sponsor.
  • Lead the conversion and translation strategy through solution design into tactical execution plans with appropriate staging that aligns with the WNTX portfolio of work.
  • Define and manage governance framework and structure including working groups, roadmap, plan and milestones, decision making, outcomes and critical success criteria.
  • Manage, monitor and report on progress including scope, outcomes, decisions, milestones, issues, risks, budget (including costs and benefits realisation).
  • Ensure that deliverables meet agreed requirements and are appropriate in terms of quality, schedule and budget.
  • In conjunction with the Change Management team analyse and determine mitigations for change impact heat maps to inform and mitigate programme risks.
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships relevant to the programme and communicate actively with all affected areas.
  • Work effectively with the workstreams and other team members to ensure a ‘drumbeat’ is created to drive progress, robust decisions and outcomes
  • Support, coach and guide programme resource through business transformation.
  • Drive the development and communication of the case for change
To be successful you will have the following skills and experience: 
  • Proven track record of successful delivery of large business-wide programmes in a Utilities or Manufacturing business, or consultancy.
  • Worked within a commercial environment and looked at a transformation through a commercial and contractual perspective, including the contractual arrangements of potential insourcing/outsourcing.
  • Ability to ‘translate’ between operations and corporate. Successful experience working in both.
  • Demonstrated ability to positively influence and work collaboratively with all levels of an organisation to achieve improved business outcomes
  • Experienced at developing and translating business strategies and ideas into detailed approaches, tactical plans and business cases.
  • Ability to identify and measure business performance improvement opportunities through robust and logical problem solving, strategic, analytical and financial evaluation skills.
  • Leadership experience in a cultural and transformational change in a medium or large organisation with a focus on teamwork, goals and priorities.
  • Proven experience in mentoring programme and project management resources.
  • Skill in designing and implementing business transformation initiatives in complex, operational/corporate environments
  • Ability to facilitate forums and workshops with more senior management membership/participation to achieve required outcomes.
  • Ability to identify and measure business performance improvement opportunities through robust and logical problem solving, strategic, analytical and financial evaluation skills.
  • Experienced at developing and translating business strategies and ideas into detailed approaches, tactical plans and business cases.
  • Ideally, you will be educated to Degree level or equivalent in a Business or Professional Discipline with additional relevant qualifications e.g Portfolio, Programme or Project management qualifications
