Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

We demonstrate our support for the Armed Forces community by signing the Armed Forces Covenant. We have made a range of written and publicised promises to set out our support to members of the Armed Forces community who work both within the organisation, access our services or are part of the wider community. These include:

  • Recognising the skills and experience of service leavers and veterans and proactively encourage and support future employment - working with organisations such as the CTP
  • Supporting and promoting Reservists within the organisation - we currently provide an additional 10 paid annual leave to support with annual training requirements
  • Adopting SSAFA as our corporate defence charity - we encourage employees to both fund-raise and volunteer for the organisation
  • Supporting the employment of military spouse, partners and their children
  • Promoting Armed Forces day, and awareness weeks


The ERS encourages employers to support defence and inspire others to do the same. The scheme encompasses bronze, silver and gold awards for organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant. In 2018 we received the Gold Award - a great achievement!
