Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
As a trust we are aware and supportive of spouses / partners of currently serving Armed Forces personnel. We as a trust are aware of the stability we can offer and the benefits this can bring to the spouse / partner and our Trust.
ASPH has been named a Veteran Aware Trust as they join the wave of Veteran Aware trusts committed to helping serving members, veterans and their families access healthcare services and find new careers in the NHS.
ASPH was one of the first trusts to sign up to the NHS ‘Step into Health’ recruitment programme, where veterans and reservists are introduced to NHS employers who provide support and guidance on finding a role in the NHS. At the heart of the Trust’s Veteran strategy is also ensuring that the Armed Forces community have access to a care pathway both in and outside the hospital. To help with this, the Trust work with community partners to sign post veterans to various support groups.
Other forces-friendly ASPH initiatives include the ‘Armed Forces Community training’ to raise staff awareness of the services available to Armed Forces and veterans, a dedicated website with signposting and being able to recognise Armed Forces personnel when they join the NHS or access our patient services.
About us
Our vision and strategy
Our Trust Strategy: ‘Together We Care’ was launched in May 2018 and was developed within the national and local context of there being a clear need for collaboration and partnership working in order to ensure strong foundations for creating and benefiting from strategic opportunities. It is consistent with the local strategies and the Surrey Health and Wellbeing Strategy and, despite being published before publication of the NHS Long Term Plan in January 2019, there is a significant degree of alignment between the national priorities set out in the Plan and our own strategy and vision.
