Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

At Atkins we have shown our commitment to the Covenant through our initiative, Partnering with the Armed Forces (PwAF), which was implemented after receiving the Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award in 2015. PwAF aims to foster a welcoming environment for ex-military, reservists, cadet instructors and military family and is a key part of our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion network.

We do this by:

• Providing an additional 10 days annual leave for our Reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers.
• Attending regular recruitment fairs or online events e.g. CTP, Officers Association and Buildforce.
• Hosting biannual insight days aimed at military personnel preparing to embark on transition and Service Leavers looking to transfer to another job.
• Partnering with SSAFA and sponsoring their Reservists Reception in Armed Forces Week.
• Raising awareness within Atkins through fundraising initiatives - Big Brew Up, Samosa-Fridays and Walking Home for Christmas.
• Celebrating our reservists through "Wear Your Uniform to Work Day".
• 'Armed Forces Community’ Yammer group provides a communications portal for the community; we also have a dedicated Armed Forces mailbox for queries. 
• Atkins was awarded “Large Employer of the Year” at the Heropreneurs Awards in November 2019.
