Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
Bath Spa University signed the Bath and North East Somerset Council Armed Forces Community Covenant Partnership in 2013. As a signatory, we have pledged our support to ensure that people from military backgrounds, including serving personnel, reservists, veterans, partners and children, are treated fairly.
As a higher education institution we share our military community-related research and expertise across the sector and beyond in areas including teacher training, cyber security and wargaming, ethical culture, leadership and training, and the educational progression of adults and children.
We are proud to be supporting the educational progression of young people and adults from military families and our students from a military background, and this is expressed in a number of commitments set out in our Access and Participation Plan with the sector’s regulatory body, the Office for Students. We have a long-standing and well-developed institutional outreach programme with schools and colleges around Salisbury Plain, and have strongly supported and contributed to the work of the Service Children Progression Alliance since its inception.
About us
Bath Spa University teaches around 8,000 students on campuses that are mostly located around the City of Bath, and we are home to students and staff from over 80 countries. We are focused on creative enterprise and guided by our four values of respect, inclusivity, collaboration and sustainability. Our purpose is to challenge our students and staff to realise their talent and thrive, for their own benefit and for the wider good. We strive to provide an environment in which the rights and dignity of all are respected, and which is free from discrimination, prejudice, intimidation and all forms of harassment, including bullying.
We are committed to recruiting and retaining staff of the highest quality. We offer excellent facilities, competitive rates of pay based on nationally agreed pay scales and a generous annual leave entitlement, and a range of benefits, including a nursery, pension scheme, flexible working practices, an employee assistance programme, family-friendly policies and a green transport scheme.
