Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Birmingham City Council are proud to support our Armed Forces community. The Council currently holds the Silver Award for the Armed Forces Covenant and are working towards achieving the Gold Award.

The Council recognises that those within the Armed Forces community have unique skills and significant experiences to bring to Civilian life. We are committed to ensuring that we are not only an Armed Forces friendly Council, but also that the community can thrive and realise their potential within our organisation.

The Council recognises the importance of training undertaken by Reservists that enables them to develop skills and abilities that are of benefit to their respective Reserve Force, the individual and the council. The Council is therefore committed to granting additional paid leave of 2 weeks per year to Reservist employees specifically to enable them to attend their annual camp.
