Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Blackdown Pre-school recognises the value serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families bring to our business. We will seed to uphold the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant by:

  • Seeking to support the employment of veterans by offering guaranteed interviews if they meet the selection criteria and recognising military skills and qualifications when interviewing for new positions
  • striving to support the employment of Service spouses and partners by offering guaranteed interviews if they meet the selection criteria;
  • endeavouring to offer a degree of flexibility in granting leave for Service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner’s deployment;
  • seeking to support our employees who choose to be members of the Reserve forces, including by accommodating their training and deployment where possible;
  • support our employees who choose to be members of the Reserve forces, including by accommodating their training and deployment where possible;
  • actively participate in Armed Forces Day by holding an Armed Forces themed week with members of the local unit attending the Pre-school and publicising the event through social media.

About us

Blackdown Pre-school is a committee-run setting providing care for children aged between 2-5 years, taking up to 30 children per session, It is a Registered Charity and has an Outstanding Ofsted grading. The pre-school is situated within the small village of Deepcut serving both military and civilian families within the local area. The pre-school offers a large indoor environment as well as a substantial outdoor space for the children to explore.

As we are a small pre-school we pride ourselves on building strong relationships with both the children and families and work together to ensure the children develop to their full potential. We see our parents as partners in their children’s education. Blackdown Pre-school follows the Early Years Foundation Stage guidelines which focus on children learning through play.

All staff are trained in Safeguarding to ensure the safety, welfare and well-being of the children in our care and we have been awarded the Defence Bronze Employer Recognition Scheme to pledge our support to the Armed Forces Community.
