Our Commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Calne Town Council is a public body that falls within the remit of Wiltshire County Council who have signed the Covenant. Wiltshire County Council hold the Gold AFC award. 

About us

There are nineteen elected members (Councillors) whose responsibility it is to ensure the Town Council's business is carried out in line with statutory requirements. These Councillors represent the public’s interest at the various Committee, Sub-Committee and Working Groups at which decisions to improve the Town and its facilities are made.
 
The Amenities Commitee looks after all the open spaces and play areas in the Town Council’s ownership, including the Town Hall and Curzon Street Cemetery, Castlefields and Beversbrook Sports & Community Facility and Britain in Bloom.
 
The Policy and Resources Committee is responsible for all aspects of policy making, financial and staffing matters. It interacts with the community by giving grants to support local organisations.
 
The Town Development and Planning Committee meets on a three weekly cycle to discuss the Town Council’s response to planning applications. Also commenting to other authorities on items such as local and structure plans and issues relating to the regeneration of the town, public transport, car parking, public footpaths and bridleways.  It also oversees CCTV and Town Events.
