Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Cheshire & Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2017 but has recently re-signed the covenant to reaffirm its pledge to our armed forces community. Integral to this commitment will be embedding this pledge across all services to ensure that military personnel who currently work, or who have worked in the military as well as service families are not disadvantaged in the care they receive.

As part of our commitment, CWP was re-accredited as a veteran aware organisation in September 2021.

CWP will encourage all patients to let us know if they have ever served in the UK Armed Forces so that we can best support their care needs: we will continually strive to be an exemplar of the best care for veterans and their families.

Currently, CWP has achieved the Silver status award with the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme and will continue to work towards a Gold standard accreditation, providing our veterans and our Armed Forces community with the support to enable them to work for CWP and become a forces friendly employer.

CWP will develop and work in partnership with our NHS colleagues, 3rd sector and voluntary and independent organisations to ensure a coordinated approach to achieving these ambitions.

About us

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) provides mental health, learning disability, and community physical health services to the people of Cheshire and Wirral.

These services are provided in partnership with commissioners, local authorities, voluntary and independent organisations, people who use our services and their carers.

CWP has around 15,000 foundation trust members and employs more than 3,400 staff across 65 sites, serving a population of over a million. Widely seen as a regional leader, CWP takes an active approach in tacking stigma and bridging health and access inequalities.

The Trust is committed to providing the highest quality of care for people who use our services to improve their health and well-being and has been recognised by the Health Service Journal as one of the top places to work in the health service for the last two years running and committed to delivering person centred care. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated CWP as ‘Good’ overall, ‘better’ for treatments and ‘Outstanding’ for care.
