Choice Support

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Choice Support recognises the value serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families bring to our business. We will seek to uphold the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant, by:

• Promoting within our recruitment practices and policy, the fact that we are an armed forces-friendly organisation;

•Seeking to actively support the employment of veterans young and old and working with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP), in order to establish a tailored employment pathway for Service Leavers;

• Striving to support the employment of Service spouses and partners;

• Within our Policies and practices:

• offering a degree of flexibility in granting leave for Service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner’s deployment;

• seeking to support our employees who choose to be members of the Reserve forces, including by accommodating their training and deployment where possible;

• Actively encouraging managers to liaise with the local community or schools offering support to our local cadet units, where possible;

• Actively participating in Armed Forces Day; running within our areas, promoting our organisation’s delivery and recruitment opportunities.

About us

Choice Support is a national charity, formed in 1984, supporting people with autism, learning disabilities and mental health needs. We were part of the movement in the late 1980s to support people out of institutions, to re-connect with families and build new lives in the places they once lived. These were big, bold and brave steps back then and Choice Support stands firmly on these foundations. Our values haven’t changed. We are still ambitious, continuing to take bold steps forward to promote the rights of people we support. We value people for who they are, and we expect everyone we support to be respected in society.

Employing around 2,800 staff to support about 2,500 people to live the life they choose, we provide support to individuals based on their own choice and don’t define people by their support needs. We are regulated and inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).  We also work with the CQC to employ Experts by Experience (ExE), to help inspect services across England.
