Civil Nuclear Constabulary

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Since signing the Armed Forces Covenant in 2019, the Civil Nuclear Constabulary continues to support services leavers and their families by engaging with them directly or through CTP and BFRS careers / recruitment events. We recognise the value of military personnel and their skill sets, which can be transferred into the role. We aim to support the transition from military to civilian life and any future reservist commitments.

The CNC also supports the Poppy Appeal and the Help for Heroes charity each year by fund raising and patrolling in specially liveried vehicles at our operational policing units each year.

About us

We are responsible for the protection of nuclear facilities and civil nuclear material – whether it’s on a civil nuclear site or in transit. We work with local police services, nuclear regulators and central government. Counter terrorism is also a major part of our role.

Learning & Development starts from the moment you join CNC. We continuously invest in our Learning & Development to ensure our people remain the best at what they do, and are prepared for future roles. You’ll get the chance to acquire nationally recognised qualifications, as well as external qualifications from professional institutes. We also have a highly experienced training team at our centre for Learning and Development at our Culham HQ, who are always on hand to provide advice and support.

All our frontline police officers and sergeants carry firearms at the licenced nuclear sites we protect. As a result, we provide every new recruit with world-class firearms training. You’ll also get the support to maintain the fitness levels required to be a CNC officer. To do this, we employ over 1,500 police officers and staff at sites throughout the UK. In return, we give our people everything they need to become exceptional. In fact, we provide a whole breadth of benefits, training and development opportunities.
