Defence Science & Technology Laboratory

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) have a long standing history of working with the Military and many of our employees are former serving personnel, service spouses/partners or come from military families. We support and embrace our links with the forces and their families and understand how their unique skills and abilities can benefit our organisation. This was recognised in 2015 when Dstl were Silver Award winners in its Defence Employer Recognition Scheme. A scheme designed to recognise an employer’s pledge and demonstrations to aligning with the armed forces community and values.

As well as former serving personal we also look to support our employees who are Reservists by supporting employees with up to 15 day of special payed leave for training each year. We support individuals transitioning out of the military as well as supporting their family members back into work. As a Civil Service organisation we look after our employees and ensure none are treated unfairly.

About us

At Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) we work to harness science and technology to Co-protect our nation – bringing together the best people, with the best ideas, in sometimes unexpected ways.

It’s unique and fascinating work. We provide the UK government with specialist science and technology research, advice and analysis. That makes what we do often sensitive or international in nature. Much is operationally critical and has the potential to save many lives.

We work with lots of other incredible people too – from small companies and world-class universities to large defence companies and other nations. Together, we develop battle-winning technologies, based on deep and widespread research, to support UK military operations now and in the future.
