Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

The East of England Co-op is committed to supporting the Armed Forces. We recognise the talent of serving personnel, Reservists, Veterans and military families and know that their skills and experience have a valuable part to play in our businesses and local communities.

We seek to uphold the values of the Armed Forces Covenant in many ways, including:

  • Promoting the fact that we are an Armed Forces Friendly Employer.
  • Supporting the employment of Service spouses and partners by endeavouring to offer flexible working arrangements (e.g. altered working hours, periods of leave, etc.).
  • Striving to support reasonable adjustments in the workplace to make employment more accessible.
  • Running company insight days in conjunction with the CTP and Recovery Centre at Colchester.
  • Promoting flexible working arrangements, including different working patterns, part-time hours, the potential of transferring to alternative location (branches trading across East Anglia), etc.
  • Seeking to supporting our colleagues who are Reservists, accommodating their training and deployment, where possible.

About us

As a Co-op, we’re a different kind of business. We’re owned by our 280,000 members and we work for the benefit of people and communities, and not just for profit. This means being fair and doing the right thing for our customers, suppliers, environment and each other.

We’re the largest independent retailer in East Anglia with a diverse portfolio of businesses. This includes food stores, funeral services, travel, events and conferencing, as well as a growing security business. Our in-house support and professional teams, including IT, HR, Finance Marketing and Property, work from our Head Office, just outside of Ipswich.
