Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
In July 2023, East Sussex County Council was awarded Gold status under the Defence Employers Recognition Scheme and one of our key commitments was to support the employment of Service spouses and partners.
We recognise that military family members are a diverse group of people, each with their own experience of military life and as an employer we understand that there are some common threads where we can provide additional support.
Our excellent Wellbeing and Health resources can offer help and guidance on a wide range of issues from financial planning and travel benefits to mental health and menopause. In addition to this, many of our teams allow for flexible working, including options for part-time and term-time only working patterns. We have also committed to provide flexibility in granting leave for Service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner’s deployment.
The Council has a network of Armed Forces Champions and we are a member of The Sussex Armed Forces Network (SAFN), a multi-organisational group working together to advocate for and improve the lives of the armed forces community.
