Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
HIAL aim to support recruitment from veterans and service spouses and partners. We promote our employment opportunities by targeting forces friendly employment organisations
We always try to offer flexibility in meeting the spouse/partners needs for leave before and after a partner’s deployment and we support reservists, veterans and forces families in our employ to continue their relationship with and dedication to the forces.
We will always try to accommodate training and deployment needs of reservists. So far we have always met those needs.
HIAL support local cadet groups, providing work experience, visits to local airports and opportunities for skills development.
HIAL promote Armed Forces Day in any way that is possible at each of our locations. Our veterans and reserves wear their uniforms with pride on Armed Forces day and HIAL senior managers promote our support through our website and collaboration with other organisations.
We have attained Silver status with the Employer Recognition Scheme.
About us
Highlands and Islands Airports Limited is responsible for the management and operation of 11 regional airports serving some of the nation’s remotest communities: at Barra, Benbecula, Campbeltown, Dundee, Inverness, Islay, Kirkwall, Stornoway, Sumburgh, Tiree and Wick.
We are committed to supporting the essential socio-economic role of aviation in Scotland by maintaining and developing our airports and the vital connections they provide.
As a private limited company wholly owned by the Scottish Ministers, HIAL receives subsidies from the Scottish Government in accordance with section 34 of the Civil Aviation Act 1982 and is sponsored by Transport Scotland.
Creating social benefit and economic prosperity by building Scotland’s sustainable regional airport group of the future is at the heart of what HIAL does.
This is reinforced by our vision to become a net-zero carbon regional airport group.
With a strong values-driven culture, these ambitions support the delivery of our strategic priorities:
