For the Isle of Man Government and partner organisations, the Covenant provides an opportunity to bring our knowledge and expertise to bear on the provision of help and advice to members of the Armed Forces Community and presents an opportunity to build upon existing good work on the Island.
How are we supporting the Covenant?
About us
The Isle of Man Public Service is made up of eight departments and various boards and offices who all report to the Council of Ministers and is the largest employer on the Isle of Man. There are 9,000 of public service workers, roughly 10% of the population or 23% of the working population, all working together for the Isle of Man.
IOMG are responsible for:
IOMG develop and maintain the Island’s Infrastructure.
IOMG support and develop the Island’s economy.
IOMG keep the Island safe.
Those wishing to work in the Isle of Man but who are not classified as an 'Isle of Man worker' will require a work permit before starting employment or self-employment in the Island. There are a range of careers that are exempt from requiring work permits, including certain ICT and e Business workers, nurses, secondary school teachers and social workers. Spouses and cohabiting partners of people holding a work permit will be granted an automatic work permit.
