Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
Equality of opportunity is fundamental to our recruitment. We offer a supportive and compassionate environment for our staff, with regular One-to-One meetings with your Line Manager and on-going support. Training and development is available where identified for your role. Other benefits include:- • We offer an excellent pension scheme for staff. Any current members of the NHS pension scheme may transfer membership on joining Julia's House. • Annual leave entitlement of 30 days per year plus Bank Holidays for full time (pro rata for part-time staff). • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), which is a 24/7 confidential information and counselling service free to staff and their family living at the same address. • Our sick pay and Maternity/Paternity pay is above the statutory minimum and we have compassionate and emergency family leave policies in place. • Death in Service scheme.
About us
Julia’s House is not a typical children’s hospice. We provide practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, providing frequent and regular support in their own homes, in the community or at our two hospices - one in Devizes, Wiltshire and the other near Poole in Dorset. Our service is rated 'Outstanding' by the Care Quality Commission. We are a Sunday Times Top 100 Best Not-For-Profit Organisations to Work For and have been recognised by their award for 10 years' commitment to better workplaces.
We make every moment count for the children we look after and focus on what the child can do, not what they can't. Fun is a big part of what we do and as one of our nurses said "Where else could you get the chance to organise a massive wheelchair water fight as part of your working day?!" As a Registered Charity we only receive 5% of our funding from Government so, as well as many nurses and carers, we also employ lots of fundraisers.
