 Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

We  encourage all council staff to share in our commitment to the covenant by showing consideration to the needs of employees with armed forces ties, whether they are reservists, veterans or employees with armed forces family members. 

We offer various support services such as occupational health referrals should employees and their managers feel the employee could benefit from medical advice related to a particular issue arising from their e.g. reserve forces
role which is impacting on their ability to undertake their role with the Council. Equally if reservist sustained a musculoskeletal injury as a result of duties undertaken as a member of the reserve forces, they could access IPRS via the Council for physiotherapy which is available for injuries sustained both within and outside of the workplace.
IPRS also provide guidance to employees on simple injury self-management and general wellbeing advice, as well as information on relevant health blogs and articles by IPRS clinicians. All employees  can access free confidential counseling service. 

We have also introduced a guaranteed interview scheme for military veterans.
