Leominster Town Council

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

No member of the armed forces community should be disadvantaged when accessing local services; and in some circumstances special treatment may be appropriate, especially for the injured and bereaved.

We will encourage and support the Armed Forces communities and veterans within our Parish, enabling where possible the Armed Forces community to help and support the wider community.

Recognise and remember the sacrifices faced by the Armed Forces community. Restore and maintain the Memorial to the fallen Armed Forces of Leominster.  Encourage the continuation of Armistice Day within the Armed Forces and wider local community.

Support the ongoing health and well-being of current and ex-service personnel. Co-ordinating axillary organisations if required.

We are committed to promoting the Armed Forces Covenant within the community and the work of charities and organisations helping to support local veterans and serving members.

About us

Leominster Town Council consists of 16 town councillors, who are all volunteers that are supported by team of 16 staff who provide day-to-day council services.

Here are some of the things we do:

Hold regular town council meetings and Civic Events including Remembrance Day and Armed Forces Day.

Support our community including the provision of grants for local groups and community facilities, supporting and facilitating town projects, emergency flood and Covid response in association with other local organisations.

We also carry out street cleaning, provide public toilets, inspect play areas, manage trees and grass cutting in our open spaces, maintain Public Rights of Way and water floral displays. We also provide Christmas lights and a tree in the town centre, provide allotments, run a Friday Market and Farmers Market and own the Leominster Tourist Information Centre to promote the town far and wide.

Making Leominster town a nicer place to live and visit.
