Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Network Rail is committed to supporting the Armed Forces community and recognises the value serving personnel, Reservists, Veterans and Military Families bring to our organisation. We strive to support the values of the Armed Forces Covenant in many ways, including:

  • Supporting our employees who are service spouses by endeavouring to offer a degree of flexibility in granting leave before, during and after a partners deployment.
  • Working with the Families Federations for all three services to profile Network Rail as a Forces Family Friendly.
  • Supporting the employment of Forces Spouses, Partners and Dependants.
  • Offer every Network Rail employee the opportunity to take an extra 5 days paid leave to explore volunteering opportunities including working with Armed Forces charities.
  • Offering flexible working arrangements and development opportunities to facilitate career growth.

About us

Network Rail owns, operates and develops Britain’s railway infrastructure. That’s 20,000 miles of track, 30,000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts and the thousands of signals, level crossings and stations. We manage 20 of the UK's largest stations while all the others, over 2,500, are managed by the country’s train operating companies.

We're becoming a company that is on the side of passengers and freight users; that is easy to engage with and is an efficient and dependable partner; a company people are proud to work for; instinctively recognised as an industry leader.

We exist to get people and goods where they need to be and to support our country's economic prosperity, running a safe, reliable and efficient railway, serving customers and communities.
