New Model Institute for Technology & Engineering (NMITE)

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

  • Promoting the fact that we are an armed forces-friendly organisation; This will be demonstrated by joint publication on the NMiTE website and NMiTE newsletters.
  • Seeking to support the employment of veterans young and old and working with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP), in order to establish a tailored employment pathway for Service Leavers; By assisting with CPD, up-skilling, re-skilling and supporting accreditations of qualifications.
  • Striving to support the employment of Service spouses and partners;
  • Endeavouring to offer a degree of flexibility in granting leave for Service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner’s deployment;
  • Seeking to support our employees who choose to be members of the Reserve forces, including by accommodating their training and deployment where possible;
  • Offering support to our local cadet units, either in our local community or in local schools, where possible;
  • We have a reservist Policy that confirms we will provide five additional days of paid leave to support the training requirements of reservists.  This is in addition to the 30 days annual leave, plus Bank Holidays and university Closure days.
  • NMiTE will comply with its responsibilities under the Reserve Forces (Safeguard of Employment) Act 1985 in respect of staff who are reservists who are mobilised
  • Pro-actively supporting applications from military backgrounds for the academic posts
  • We have a flexible working approach within NMiTE – which supports all employees no matter of their circumstances.  Options to work from home are promoted, and flexible working hours to suit.

About us

NMITE – New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering – is an initiative backed by government, educators, Olin College, and industry, to transform higher engineering education in Britain.

The NMiTE project is essential to Britain’s competitive future. Engineers are key to resolving major world challenges but the UK is critically short of them. Practical problem-solvers will be the innovators of the future and this is crucial for global development.

Designing a specialist Institute to deliver a new age of engineering education, fulfilling every learner’s potential and, in turn, enhancing value to industry, community, society and economy.
