Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
We work closely with the Defence Relationship Management (DRM) team at the Ministry of Defence, delivering advice and support to organisations across the North of England who wish to pledge their support of the Armed Forces community by signing an Armed Forces Covenant. Our Employer Engagement team work closely with our region’s public and private organisations who seek to find a way to recognise the sacrifice, commitment and dedication to duty that being a serving member of HM Armed Forces entails, and to prepare a supportive net to attract this military talent back into our society as highly valued employees. The North of England has always been a huge recruiting region for all three Services, contributing on average 15-18% of the Army’s total of new recruits year-on-year, many of these service personnel return back home, we work in partnership with Career Transition Partnership (CTP) to make sure that the best opportunities are ready for them on their discharge.
About us
Established in 1908 (as Territorial Associations) the Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Associations (RFCAs) were originally designed to provide local support to the Territorial Force in every county. Over 100 years later the name has changed, the number of associations has reduced and the RFCA dependency has grown to encompass reserves and cadets of all 4 services. We are publicly funded and our voluntary and professional (salaried) secretariat are drawn from all strata of society and are responsible for the well-being of the region’s reserve forces and cadets promoting the interests of the armed forces and building relationships with the local community and employers. We are a responsible employer that is proud of our diverse and inclusive principles.
