Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Plymouth has a long-established relationship with its armed forces community, and values the contribution made by those serving in the military and their families. We recognise that the military lifestyle is unique, creating a variety of opportunities, but can also present challenges for the families living with those who are either serving in the forces or transitioning to civilian life.

So you may be interested to know that we offer a range of working arrangements designed to help you to fit work around your other responsibilities, balanced with the specific demands of your role. These arrangements include a flexi-time scheme (where service demands allow it), job share, shared parental leave, family support leave and career breaks. We also offer up to 10 days paid leave per annum for reservists.

We give our people the tools and training to work wherever makes most sense – on the go, at home, and in our corporate buildings. This allows you to be flexible and work where and when you need to, where the role allows this.

About us

Plymouth’s vision is to be one of Europe’s most vibrant waterfront cities, where an outstanding quality of life is enjoyed by everyone - and as the local authority for Plymouth, we have a key role to play in achieving that vision. We provide services and information to many of the area’s 262,700 residents as well as businesses and visitors. We are also one of the city’s largest employers, employing over 2,500 employees. Given the diversity of our services, we offer a broad range of opportunities in occupations such as planning officer, park ranger, children’s social worker, refuse driver, project manager, registrar, housing delivery officer and customer support assistant – and there are many more.

We’re proud of Plymouth.  If you want to help us achieve our vision, why not find out more by visiting our website.
