Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
Tendring District Council has a long history of supporting our nations Regular Reservist Cadet Forces and Veterans Organisations. This policy is specifically aimed at supporting the Councils employees who are also members of the Reserve and Cadet Forces. (Here after referred to as Reservists)
Tendring District Council is positive about employing Reservists and fully recognises the benefits to society, employers and individuals of the high quality training and skills development that comes from membership of the Reserves.
Tendring District Council will register its commitment with SaBRE and the East Anglian Reserve Focuses and Cadets Association and seek to maintain their designation as a “Supportive Employer”.
Tendring District Council will support employees who are compulsorily mobilised for service in the Armed Forces and will comply with the provisions of the Reserve Forces Act 1996 and the Reserve Forces (Safeguard of Employment) Act 1985.
Tendring District Council will, wherever possible, be flexible in varying working hours and in granting time off to enable employees to undertake their reservist duties and training liabilities.
The Council is open to employing reservists, armed forces veterans (including the wounded, injured and sick), cadet instructors and military spouses/partners.
