Uppingham Community College

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

UCC is a wonderful place to work. We have the pleasure and privilege of working with incredible young people in a school community that is caring, supportive and very enjoyable. Our students’ behaviour is excellent and there is a positive school atmosphere for learning.
UCC is situated in a picturesque part of Rutland county, bordering Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.

Our Vision
‘Everyone at UCC thrives, making excellent progress in their learning, achievement and development.’
We believe that if our staff have the conditions in which they can thrive, our students will thrive in their education and development.

Staff Workload
We take a sensible approach ensuring policies and practices focus on educational aspects that make the biggest difference to students. We shape the way we work by reviewing educational research/literature with a critical eye and make decisions about their application within the context of our school.

Flexible working
We believe it is important to adopt a modern approach and where appropriate, work with staff to enable some flexibility and freedom within their roles.

Uppingham Community College will:

  • demonstrate our commitment to the principles of the Armed Forces Community as set out in Section 2 of the Covenant.
  • publicise these commitments through out literature and staff notices, and on our website, setting out how we will honour them.
  • invite feedback from the Service community, our staff and parents/general public on how we are doing.

About us

Our key values as a school community are: Respect, Honesty and Kindness. Everything we do is based upon these simple core principles. We are committed to the highest educational standards and have invested in staff development, facilities and resources to ensure all of our students acquire the knowledge and skills required to succeed in an ever changing world. We offer a curriculum delivering great all round education and we continually focus on developing teaching and learning, and educational research.

We put students at the heart of everything we do. Our vision as a school is simple: Everyone at UCC thrives, making excellent progress in their learning, achievement and development. As teachers, leaders and parents ourselves, we understand the importance of young people feeling safe and happy at school. We work tremendously hard to ensure the environment at UCC is welcoming, positive, safe and learning focused. We are relentlessly aspirational for our students and want them to achieve the highest possible standards of academic excellence, alongside becoming amazing young adults.
