Walking With The Wounded

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Walking With the Wounded signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2016 and is committed to ensuring the fair treatment of all members of the armed forces community. We place veterans and their families at the centre of everything that we do and work tirelessly to ensure that they are not disadvantaged because of their service. Many of our staff are former members of the armed forces and understand the challenges that veterans can face when trying to secure employment.

We work with veterans to understand the type and level of employment they aspire to and provide a wide range of support to help them secure a meaningful, sustainable role. We offer support for as long as it’s needed and can provide help with CV writing, identifying vacancies, addressing skills gaps through providing and funding training, and interview preparation. Our aim is to help veterans to regain their independence and we recognise the huge value that veterans and military families contribute to businesses and communities.

About us

Walking With The Wounded was established in 2010 as a charity to support veterans and their families.  We provide support with employment, mental health and care-coordination, as well as volunteering opportunities and support to veterans in the Criminal Justice System.

Many of our staff have served themselves which enables us to truly empathise and understand how we can help.  Our core value of Client First is at the forefront of everything that we do, as well as collaboration, empowerment, respect and integrity – values which apply to our team and way of working together as much as they do to those we support.

Being part of the Walking With The Wounded team provides a rewarding career in a supportive environment with opportunities for all staff, whether they are on the front line or part of our support team, to make a real difference to the lives of veterans and their families.
