Walsall College

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

We will always consider offering an interview to spouses/partners if they meet the selection criteria laid out in a job advert for academic and support roles across the organisation.

The College recognises that many skills that reservists gain during activities and training are transferable to the workforce. The College will therefore assist reservists as far as possible with leave requirements, special additional annual leave and amended working patterns for reservist activities.

SimplyHealth – Through ZEST we also offer staff the benefit SimplyHealth, which aims to keep our workforce healthy while minimising the additional worry about cost. Staff are able to claim back a proportion of the cost of treatment (i.e. dental, optical, counselling) from SimplyHealth.

Flexible Working – As part of the College’s commitment to providing a positive working environment, the college endeavour to support employees in achieving an appropriate work-life balance. The College have previously supported many members of staff with flexible working requests and Career Breaks.

Whilst the Health and Wellbeing initiative mainly supports Walsall College employees, the campaigns that we promote have information that can also support spouses and partners. For example with our Mental First Aid Team, they are able to support staff who may have a spouse, partner or relative displaying signs of mental ill health and they would be able to signpost the member of staff to the appropriate support or service.
