Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
As a Gold Award Holder of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), Weston College has a strong history of supporting local military units and the Armed Forces community. It sits upon the North Somerset Armed Forces steering group and has launched a number of Forces-friendly initiatives, including the “Train to Build” scheme; facilitating the training of ex-forces personnel to build their own accommodation. In 2016, the College signed the Armed Forces Covenant to formalise and further promote our commitment to the Armed Forces community. This includes supporting employees who are members of the Reserves and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, this support also extends to their spouses and partners. The College has now established a CCF Section, which is facilitated by a Veteran. This ensures that the College continues to be an attractive and highly supportive employer and training provider to all members of the Armed Forces community. Currently, the College has a recognised representative working closely multiple organisations to recruit both veterans and individuals leaving the armed forces.
