Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
York St John University (YSJU) signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2014, were awarded Employer Recognition Silver status in 2018 and Gold in 2020.
As part of the Armed Forces Covenant, YSJU has committed to:
YSJU identifies colleagues who are from the Armed Forces Community and have provided a toolkit of support for line mangers. A forum has been created to identify better opportunities for students from military backgrounds and/or families. The Outreach Officer representing the SCiP Alliance/York & North Yorkshire hub for Uni Connect provides advice regarding military families and children.
Student widening participation and recruitment include Acknowledgement of Prior Learning (APL) for military courses as part of our admissions process.
YSJU is part of the Universities in Support of Wounded, Injured and Sick Service Personnel Programme (UNSWIS) Programme.
